Raja Krishnamoorthi (D-Illinois) after his fellow congressman was evacuated from another office. “People have now entered the Capitol without any kind of screening at all, and so it’s a very tense situation for everybody inside,” Castro said. The St. Louis couple who waved firearms at Black Lives Matter protesters outside their home in June will appear virtually at next week’s Republican National Convention to express their support for President Donald Trump. A Trump adviser on Monday confirmed the participation of Patricia and Mark McCloskey. The news was first reported by The Washington Post. The McCloskeys, who are white, have claimed they were protecting themselves from protesters marching on their private street, but they were each charged by a local prosecutor with one felony count of unlawful use of a weapon. LOUISVILLE, Ky. Houston Texans wide receiver Kenny Stills was arrested in Louisville late Tuesday night after he participated in a protest over the death of Breonna Taylor. Stills was among 87 people who were taken into custody after they marched to the home of Kentucky Attorney General Daniel Cameron. According to the Louisville Courier-Journal, a police spokesperson said all the protesters, including Stills, were given the chance to leave Camerons home before being arrested. He participated in a march for Taylor in June at the Kentucky state capitol and attended George Floyds funeral in Houston. The Texans wide receiver is entering his second season in Houston after he was traded from Miami.

The self-proclaimed "Geek in the Pink" will immediately start by donating his $250,000 advance on royalties, he said in a news release. The first six organizations to receive a portion of his donation are Black Lives Matter, San Diego Young Artists Music Academy, RISE San Diego, Grassroots Law Project, Center on Policy Initiatives, and the Equal Justice Initiative. Every year, the artist will choose various organizations that work on advancing “equality and justice” to receive donations from the album’s profits.

The final photos journalist Linda Tirado took around midnight on May 30, while covering the protests in Minneapolis, show what appears to be a police officer aiming a foam bullet gun right at her. "There's no way that they could have mistaken me — with a professional camera — for anything but working press," she said. Like in Tirado's case, many such attacks have been carried out by law enforcement, according to the US Press Freedom Tracker, a nonprofit organization that tracks incidents of violence against journalists covering the protests. SAN ANTONIO – Medical and nursing students from the University of the Incarnate Word and UT Health San Antonio will join together for a “White Coats for Black Lives” protest Sunday. The students will gather at 4 p.m. at the athletic fields at UT Health San Antonio. A participant tells KSAT they are expecting several hundred protesters and said there will be speakers from both schools of medicine as well as the school of nursing. The protest is student-led and participants said the administration was not involved in the planning or organization of the event. There have been “White Coats for Black Lives” protests at hospitals across the country in recent days.

Jeremiah Ellison, city councilman for Ward 5, tweeted a similar message Thursday, writing, "We are going to dismantle the Minneapolis Police Department. NORTH CAROLINA George Floyd's second memorial will take place Saturday in the state where he was born after the 11th night of protests ignited by his death. "The memorial is about the life that Mr. George Floyd lived, and this is a time to embrace the family with expressions of love and kindness," Peterkin said. The remembrance of his life follows a night of de-escalation for protests in many cities across the US. "We are going to dramatically rethink how we approach public safety and emergency response," City Council member Jeremiah Ellison tweeted. DALLAS Officials in Dallas on Saturday lifted a nighttime curfew that had been put in place after several days of demonstrations that saw multiple eruptions of violence. The curfew was lifted after consultation with Dallas Police Chief U. Renee Hall and City Council, said Dallas City Manager T.C. Weve seen many moving and peaceful protests over the last few days, some of which I joined, Broadnax said in a statement. The city of Dallas and the Dallas Police Department continue to respect and protect the rights of peaceful demonstrators.Broadnax said Dallas residents were safer staying at home due to the ongoing coronavirus pandemic. The curfew had been announced May 31 by Hall after violent protests took place in downtown Dallas and other areas over the death of George Floyd and the treatment of black people by police.

SAN ANTONIO Temporary fencing has been placed at Alamo Plaza as protests continue in San Antonio. Alamo Plaza, which has been closed off during nightly curfews, will now have the blockades to secure The Alamo, according to its Twitter account. There will be access points for pedestrians on Alamo and Houston streets, The Alamos Twitter account said Wednesday. A fence has been placed in Alamo Plaza in an effort to prevent any destruction during protests in San Antonio. City officials announced Tuesday the Alamo Plaza will be closed from 8:30 p.m.-6 a.m. daily until Sunday.

(CNN) -- George Floyds brother Philonise had a clear and pressing question for the Minneapolis Police chief on Sunday. Derek Chauvin, the officer seen kneeling on Floyd's neck for nearly nine minutes, was charged on Friday with third-degree murder and second-degree manslaughter. The state murder trial of Michael Slager, the officer charged with shooting Walter Scott, ended in 2016 with a hung jury and mistrial. In 2016, none of the six officers charged in Freddie Gray's death were convicted of wrongdoing. Floyds death was a homicide by officers who taunted him while holding him down for more than eight minutes, he said in a statement.
