As concerns rise for crime, sheriff says new substation helps deputies connect to the community
It's nearly been one month since the Bexar County Sheriff's Office substation officially opened. The sheriff says right now it's just a workspace, but with more deputies on the way, he expects it to help with crime prevention.

SAN ANTONIO โ With golden shovels in their hands, some local movers and shakers broke ground on what is expected to be a golden opportunity for some families in need. The San Antonio Housing Authority held the ceremony Wednesday to symbolically mark the beginning of construction on what it calls โaffordable housing in the Alamo Ranch area.โAn artistโs rendering, courtesy of SAHA, shows the exterior of the complex. The location along Loop 1604 and just a stoneโs throw from Alamo Ranch, was chosen by SAHA to give people options. BCSO: Woman shot at apartment complex in Alamo Ranch area
SAN ANTONIO โ The Bexar County Sheriffโs Office is investigating a shooting at an apartment complex in the Alamo Ranch area. The shooting happened at 5:19 p.m. Sunday near an apartment complex in the 11500 block of Wild Pine on the far West Side. Sheriffโs deputies said an altercation broke out between two groups of people, resulting in a shooting. Officials: Homeless man shot after suspect tries to steal his bicycleA woman with a gunshot wound was taken to CHRISTUS Santa Rosa Hospital on Westover Hills for treatment of injuries. Officials said the suspects are still at large.
Shooting at NW Bexar County apartment complex has neighbor worried about safety
SAN ANTONIO โ A shooting at a northwest Bexar County apartment complex has at least one woman concerned about her familyโs safety. Caitlyn Woods lives at the Alamo Ranch Apartments where a man was wounded late Monday night, according to Bexar County sheriffโs investigators. Man shot 3 times in chest at NW Bexar County apartmentsDeputies found him after 11 p.m. lying on the hallway floor in the one of the buildings of the complex in the 11500 block of Alamo Ranch Parkway. โI heard sirens really loud, which we live really close to the highway, so I didnโt think anything of it,โ Woods said. They declined to discuss the motive for the shooting and as of late Tuesday morning had not made any arrests.
Man shot 3 times in chest at NW Bexar County apartments
SAN ANTONIO โ A man is in critical condition after being shot in the chest three times at a Northwest Bexar County apartment complex. Bexar County sheriffโs deputies were called to the Alamo Ranch Apartments, located in the 11500 block of Alamo Ranch Parkway, shortly after 11 p.m. Monday. He had been shot three times in his chest, deputies said. They said the man was in critical condition when he was taken to a hospital by ambulance. Detectives later confirmed that the man who was shot did live at the apartment complex where they found him.
