Family expresses frustration with billboard over delayed justice for man killed in drunk driving crash
A Houston family paid for a billboard to express their frustration over delayed justice in their loved one's case. Gabriel Gallegos was killed in a wrong way driver crash in 2020, the family says the case has still not gone to trial and they expect the suspect will face the minimum punishment if any at all. The suspect is out on bond.

San Antonio โ A San Antonio family is disappointed with the Bexar County justice system after the alleged killer of their loved one bonded out of jail and is still awaiting trial. San Antonio police say Edison Carraman, 22, his cousin, allegedly pulled the trigger. Kristopherโs mother, Michele Carraman, said she feels the justice system has failed their family. โKristopher was a happy, humble, outgoing father, son, grandson, brother, friend whose life was taken way too soon,โ Michele Carraman said through tears. There is no replacing him.โSince the shooting, Michele Carraman said she has been calling non-stop to see when Edison Carraman would finally be tried by a jury.
Asian American and Pacific Islanders for Justice leader calls on community to bring more awareness to racial injustices, attacks
SAN ANTONIO โ Myra Dumapias, a leader with the Asian American and Pacific Islanders for Justice grassroots group in San Antonio, is tired of the silence and says sheโs ready for her community to speak up about the racial injustices and attacks they have been experiencing. One instance, she says, is the lack of coverage following the shooting in Atlanta, in which eight people, mostly women of Asian descent, were killed. Itโs an act of gender violence, and itโs part of a long-time problem of Asian women being minimized only down to our sexuality,โ Dumapias said. State Rep. Gene Wu, D-Houston, said itโs time for the Asian American community to join the equality movement. AdAlong with other Texas House members of Asian descent, Wu signed a resolution Condemning Violence and Hate Against Asian Americans and Pacific Islanders (AAPI) in Texas.

Parents of San Antonio teen shot, killed speak out against gun violence
San Antonio โ The parents of a 14-year-old boy who was shot and killed a week before Christmas are speaking out against gun violence. Bobby Lee Carter Junior, their son, was killed alongside Robert Smith, 20, on the Northeast Side. Bobby Lee Carter Senior and Victoria Carter, his parents, said their son was a happy boy. He had a good heart and soul.โThey said Bobby Lee Carter Junior suffered from ADHD, but was finding his own ways of dealing with it. Bexar County Deputies said Bobby Lee Carter Junior was trying to sell marijuana to Smith when two men approached their car, robbed them and shot them.

SAN ANTONIO โ Two south Texas brothers are desperate for answers after they say their mother, who is homeless and schizophrenic, was found severely beaten in the downtown area of San Antonio, not far from Haven for Hope. โAn SAPD officer said it could have happened from her falling on the ground because they found her seizing out,โ Matthew Bessey said, annoyed. โThey need the proper help,โ Matthew Bessey said. Matthew Bessey said he also demands the police to take his motherโs case seriously despite her being homeless. โThe trauma surgeon and the doctors that told us everything,โ Matthew Bessey said.
Second traffic-related suspension in 3 months for SAPD officer who wrecked vehicle, waited to contact supervisor
Itโs the second time in less than three months Officer Marcus Justice has been suspended for a traffic-related incident, records show. Justice was involved in a wreck with another vehicle in March in the 600 block of Lanark Drive, suspension records show. A subsequent investigation determined that Justice reached speeds of 68 miles per hour while traveling along Lanark Drive, according to suspension files. Justice pulled over, but as the police officer was getting out of his vehicle, Justice โdrove off at a high rate of speed,โ according to suspension records. The November 2019 incident culminated with officers ending their chase and filing an evading arrest complaint against Justice, records show.
