Bicyclist killed by train just east of downtown identified
SAN ANTONIO โ San Antonio police said a man, identified by the medical examinerโs office on Friday as 54-year-old Tyrone Paul Bowie, tried to cross train tracks with a bicycle and was killed by a train. The incident occurred around 12:50 a.m. Thursday near North Pine Street and Duval Street, just east of downtown. According to police, a train was stopped near Pine Street as it was being doubled with another train. Investigators say Bowie was trying to cross the road by going underneath the train with his bicycle when the train suddenly began to move. Police said the train engineer was pulling the train forward when it went into emergency mode and came to a full stop.
Man in critical condition after being hit by train on East Side, officials say
SAN ANTONIO A man is in critical condition after being hit by a train Tuesday afternoon on the East Side, officials say. The incident happened near South New Braunfels and Westfall avenues. Investigators arent sure whether the man fell before being hit or lying on the tracks. They say the impact threw him off the tracks. The man was taken to the Brooke Army Medical Center in critical condition.
