BCSO: San Antonio man arrested for DWI had fake DEA badge and gun in vehicle
A San Antonio man arrested on suspicion of driving while intoxicated had a fake Drug Enforcement Administration badge in his vehicle, police said. Deputies found what appeared to be a DEA badge, a handgun and handcuffs in his vehicle. Deputies determined that the badge was fake and later found a website selling such replicas. While possessing a fake badge is not illegal, Sheriff Javier Salazar said the combination of a badge, weapon and handcuffs was concerning. Deputies are asking anyone with information — or people who may have seen Hernandez display the fake badge — to call the Public Integrity Unit at 210-335-5124.

BEXAR COUNTY, Texas – A 31-year-old man is dead after a deputy-involved shooting on the far West Side that started as a mental health-type call, Bexar County Sheriff Javier Salazar said. According to the Bexar County Medical Examiner’s office, Damian Lamar Daniels was shot and killed Tuesday evening. Salazar said a deputy attempted to subdue Daniels with a stun gun, but it did not stop him. He then grabbed the deputy’s stun gun, and another deputy used their stun gun on him to try to get him to let go of it, the sheriff said. The two veteran deputies and a trainee deputy will be placed on administrative leave and then administrative duty as the investigations continue.

SAN ANTONIO – A portion of Loop 1604 on the Far West Side remains closed Thursday morning after a driver crashed and rolled over his gravel truck overnight. San Antonio police say the driver wrecked his truck along the southbound lanes of Loop 1604 near Shaenfield Road around 1 a.m. Thursday, and the truck then caught fire. The southbound lanes of Loop 1604 between Shaenfield Road and New Guilbeau Road are closed due to the crash, according to the Texas Department of Transportation. The gravel truck was moved upright before 6 a.m., but police say the lanes will stay closed for the next several hours. Driver crashes car after being shot in west Bexar County neighborhood
SAN ANTONIO – A driver whose car crashed outside a west Bexar County home early Friday was found to be suffering from gunshot wounds. He realized, though, that the driver instead was suffering from gunshot wounds and the back window of his car had been shot out. (KSAT)The homeowner said he saw two passengers who appeared to be trying to help the wounded man out of the car. Bexar County sheriff’s deputies said the driver suffered a gunshot wound to his back and also was grazed in the head by a bullet. Deputies said the wounded man, although alert and talking when he left for a hospital, was not offering much information about what happened.
Man killed in far West Side shooting identified, officials say
SAN ANTONIO – Update: The man who was killed in a shooting on the far West Side on Sunday has been identified as 20-year-old Christian Reitz, according to the medical examiner. Original report: A man was shot and killed and another victim is in stable condition after a shooting on the far West Side, according to deputies with the Bexar County Sheriff’s Office. Deputies were called to the home for a disturbance with a gun and found a juvenile victim who was shot in the buttocks and another victim who was found dead at the scene. A BCSO sergeant said the age of the man who was killed is not currently known. Shell casings were found in the street and detectives are working to determine if the shooting was a drive-by.

A person was taken to the hospital after a shooting on the far West Side, officials said. The shooting was reported in the area of Loop 1604 and Shaenfield Road. San Antonio police say a homeless person who lives in hut behind a strip mall in the area called some friends to report they had been injured. The friends then called police. The San Antonio Fire Department said the victim was taken to the University Hospital with a gunshot wound to the knee.

SAN ANTONIO - A neighborhood was left shaken Saturday after 3-year-old boy was found dead in San Antonio's Far West Side. According to the San Antonio Police Department, a local family arrived home in the 10100 block of Tempestuous with their two sons in the early afternoon. The parents had accidentally left the younger child in the hot car, police said. Lt. Jesse Salame said the death appears to be a "terrible accident" and the family is left devastated. The San Antonio Police Department believes there was no foul place but homicide detectives are investigating the case.
