To the house! Boerne Champion HS student with special needs scores 80-yard touchdown
BOERNE, Texas ā This football season has been filled with ups and downs, cancellations and postponements, but on Thursday night, the Boerne Champion junior varsity football team and coaches enjoyed an incredible moment for one their teammates. Eric Barnhill, a special needs student at Champion High School, rushed for an 80-yard touchdown in the Chargers game against Floresvilleās junior varsity. Boerne ISD posted a video of the touchdown on the districtās social media accounts on Friday morning. Thanks to Floresville ISD for this!ā Boerne ISD posted on social media. The district said Coach Dale Coley, the Champion wide receiver coach, brought the idea to varsity Head Coach Keith Kaiser.
Zach Heffernan becomes first player in 25 years to win consecutive Texas Junior Amateur tournaments
HORSESHOE BAY ā Boerne Champion senior Zach Heffernan became the first golfer in 25 years and just the third in the Texas Junior Amateurās 94-year history to win back-to-back titles. And how he did it is just as impressive: after leading the first day, Zach didnāt play quite as well day two and found himself with a challenge on the last day of competition. āAfter the first day playing good, being in the lead and then the second day ā itās nice being in the lead I guess after the first day but not really. āAnd then went from there.āBy the 18th hole, Zach had not only drawn even, but was one stroke up. āWhen I have the confidence and feel like Iām going to win, I just always play good golf.ā
