The Brownsville Police Department is investigating the death of a man found in West Brownsville Friday morning. Police were called to the intersection of Florence and Father Mestas Drive, which is a block away from La Galaxia and La Lomita Park and near Military Highway. “We have everything blocked of an area of Father Mestas and Florence right now. Man charged with murder in 2007 Universal City fatal shooting
Nearly three months after University City police cracked a 2007 cold case, the man accused of fatally shooting 21-year-old Blase Wright Jr. has been indicted on a capital murder charge. Universal City police have been investigating Wright’s death since he was gunned down in February 2007 during an apparent robbery. Blase Wright Jr., 21, was gunned down in 2007 in his Universal City apartment. (KSAT)In 2009, police discovered evidence of a separate drive-by shooting that used the same gun linked to Wright’s death. A third suspect who was also arrested in connection with Wright’s death saw his charges dismissed for the same reason.

SAN ANTONIO – The military is investigating the death of a soldier at Fort Sam Houston, according to Joint Base San Antonio public affairs division. “A U.S. Army Soldier was found dead on Joint Base San Antonio-Fort Sam Houston July 12,” a statement from JBSA said. “The service member’s name is being withheld pending next-of-kin notification.”The incident is under investigation by U.S. Airforce Security Forces and U.S. Army Criminal Investigation Command. Prosecutors dropped a murder charge under the deal, partly because authorities could not specify how the boy died. Pankey's wife, Elisha Pankey, previously pleaded guilty to child abuse resulting in death under a plea deal that required her cooperation with prosecutors. Authorities found Caden's body in December 2018 while investigating allegations of domestic violence that Elisha Pankey made against her husband. An autopsy found signs that the boy was severely emaciated and evidence of injuries to his head, chest and limbs.
