19-year-old man facing murder charge for fatal crash after BCSO chase, officials say
The male driver, Esteban Zamarripa III, 19, hit several curbs and refused to stop, which initiated the pursuit. Deputies took the driver of the gray car, Zamarripa, into custody.
Duplex fire forces 8 people, cat, out into cold weather
SAN ANTONIO โ Members of two families are trying to recover from a fire that destroyed the duplex they called home. The fire broke out around 2 a.m. Friday, forcing eight people and a pet cat outdoors into frigid temperatures. Bexar County firefighters say one resident had called them after noticing smoke in a garage in the 6600 block of Montgomery Drive. โShortly after we arrived, the flames broke through the roof,โ said Chief Robert Hogan with Bexar County Emergency Services District, #10. However, because of the strong winds, Hogan says they were fighting a losing battled.
Strong winds spread fire throughout duplex in NE Bexar County
SAN ANTONIO โ Strong winds did no favors for firefighters who were battling a fire in a duplex in Northeast Bexar County early Friday. They say gusts of up to 20 miles per hour caused the flames to whip up and quickly spread. Firefighters say one of the residents called them around 2 a.m., saying there was fire in his garage. They say eight people, including three children, escaped from both sides of the duplex. Because of the strong winds, Bexar County Emergency Services District had to call for help from about a half other fire agencies.
BCSO: Stolen car chase ends in 3-vehicle crash in Northeast Bexar County
SAN ANTONIO โ One person is in custody after a high-speed chase ended in a three-vehicle crash in Northeast Bexar County Thursday morning. The Bexar County Sheriffโs Office said the chase started after an SUV was stolen around 7:30 a.m. in Kirby. Police officers began following the car and BCSO deputies joined the chase near FM 78 and Walzem Road, BCSO spokesperson Johnny Garcia said. Sheriffโs office seeks missing woman, 90, last seen in northeast Bexar County
SAN ANTONIO โ The Bexar County Sheriffโs Office is asking for the publicโs help in finding a missing 90-year-old woman last seen in northeast Bexar County. According to a post by the sheriffโs office on Facebook, Eldora Criswell was last seen driving her gray 2005 Hyundai Elantra around 3 p.m., Saturday, at the Army Residence Community, which is located at 7400 Crestway. The BCSO said Criswell has a medical condition that requires medication, and she typically wears plain pants, a plain shirt and tennis shoes. She is described as being 5 feet tall, weighs 130 pounds, has brown eyes and white hair. Her vehicle also has a Texas plate that reads, โDM4Y569.โIf you have any information on Criswellโs whereabouts, youโre urged to contact the Bexar County Sheriffโs Office at (210)335-6000.
Man, juvenile killed in Northeast Side shooting, medical examiner says
A man and a juvenile were hospitalized after a shooting on the Northeast Side, according to the Bexar County Sheriffโs Office. SAN ANTONIO โ A man and a juvenile are dead following a shooting on the Northeast Side late Thursday night, the Bexar County Medical Examinerโs Office said. The shooting happened around 9:30 p.m. in the 8100 block of Whistler Street, not far from Rubens Drive and Gibbs Sprawl Road. Officials said both the man and juvenile were shot and taken to the Brooke Army Medical Center for treatment, where they later died. Itโs unclear what lead to the shooting, and details are limited as of yet.
BCSO investigating home invasion in Northeast Bexar County
BEXAR COUNTY, Texas โ The Bexar County Sheriffโs Office is investigating following a home invasion in Northeast Bexar County early Thursday morning. The incident occurred around 2:30 a.m. at a home in the 8000 block of Chestnut Blue, not far from Seguin Road and Walzem Road. According to deputies, the suspects forced their way into the home by kicking in the front door and then stole several items. Police said the suspects did, however, drop some of the items on their way out. At this time, it is unclear as to exactly why this particular home was targeted.
Medical Examiner identifies man struck, killed by vehicle while crossing street in NE Bexar County
SAN ANTONIO โ Update:The Bexar County Medical Examiner has identified a man that was hit by a vehicle and killed in northeast Bexar County last week. Joseph Colbert, 54, died as a result of the incident, though his cause of death is currently pending. Pair charged in slaying of 24-year-old rollerskating enthusiast over cellphone, BCSO Sheriff Salazar says
SAN ANTONIO โ A man and woman have been charged in the slaying of a 24-year-old rollerskating enthusiast in Northeast Bexar County on Wednesday afternoon, Bexar County Sheriff Javier Salazar said. Salazar said Barrera was getting into her vehicle when Calvillo allegedly approached her and demanded her cellphone. The sheriff said Calvillo then shot her in the head and fled the scene. Calvillo and Jones were later found during a routine traffic stop with the murder weapon, Salazar said. Jones is currently being charged as a felon in possession of a firearm and may be charged with capital murder as well, Salazar said.
BCSO: Womanโs vehicle struck by gunfire in Northeast Bexar County
SAN ANTONIO โ The Bexar County Sheriffโs Office is investigating after a womanโs vehicle was hit by gunfire late Sunday night. The incident occurred around 10:45 p.m. near Golf Heights and Golf Vista Boulevard in Northeast Bexar County. The BCSO said the woman was driving on Golf Heights when the vehicle was hit by the gunfire. The woman was not struck by the shots, but did sustain non-life-threatening injuries from glass debris after driving into a ditch, deputies said. Deputies set up a perimeter to search for a shooter, but so far no one has been found.
Have you seen this girl? She disappeared last week from Northeast Bexar County
SAN ANTONIO โ The Bexar County Sheriffโs Office is requesting the publicโs help in locating a 12-year-old girl last seen in Northeast Bexar County. The Sheriffโs Office said that MonโTriโNique Patricia Ali, also known as โMontri or Kashmere,โ was last seen at her home near the 7500 block of Windsor Oaks at 10:30 p.m. on Nov. 22. The sheriffโs Office says Ali was last seen wearing a dress, a black coat with a hood and black Nike shoes. Sheriff: Suspected meth lab โcould have blown the roof right offโ NE Bexar County home
BEXAR COUNTY, Texas โ Bexar County Sheriff Javier Salazar says his deputies have uncovered a major meth lab inside a Northeast Bexar County home. Salazar said while conducting surveillance on one man, deputies initiated a traffic stop on him earlier in the evening. As a result of the traffic stop, deputies then descended on the home where they found more drugs along with the makings of a meth lab, Salazar said. At the time of the traffic stop, deputies also found two children in the car. He asked anyone with information about the suspected meth lab to call the Bexar County Sheriffโs Office at (210) 335-6070.
