SAN ANTONIO โ The Bexar County Sheriffโs office found a 52-year-old woman dead in her home on Saturday, just days after she was last seen. On Saturday, the sheriffโs office filed a missing personโs report for a 52-year-old woman after one of her co-workers said the woman had not reported to work since Wednesday morning. Due to โdetails given by co-workers and inclement weather,โ the BCSO missing persons unit began to work to find the woman. The sheriffโs office said deputies planned to make a forced entry into the womanโs home on Saturday after they had โno luckโ in locating her. Ultimately, deputies decided to enter the house โin the case that the missing person was injured or in need of emergency help,โ the sheriffโs office said in a statement to KSAT.
Bexar County Sheriff cuts ties with head of law enforcement division
SAN ANTONIO โ Bexar County Sheriff Javier Salazar on Friday cut ties with Assistant Chief Deputy Ronald Dale Bennett, one of the longest serving members of his administration, the sheriff said. Bennett, who oversaw BCSOโs law enforcement division, retired in lieu of being terminated by Salazar, the sheriff said at a Friday afternoon news conference. Salazar said that he and Bennett disagreed with the way the sheriff believes the agency should be moving forward. The sheriff said he wants to make changes to some of the agencyโs units and Bennett didnโt agree with Salazarโs plans. Bennett was one of Salazarโs original appointments, and took part in a ceremony announcing a revamped administration days after Salazar took office in January 2017.

67-year-old man arrested after shooting outside home in far West Bexar County
BEXAR COUNTY, Texas โ A 67-year-old man has been arrested after he shot at a man outside a home in far West Bexar County, the Bexar County Sheriffโs office said. Deputies were called just before 7:30 a.m. Thursday to the 12300 block of Carleson Valley, not far from Highway 90 after receiving reports of someone injured. Johnny Garcia, a BCSO spokesperson, said a man was standing in his front yard when the suspect came up to him with a handgun and fired at him from close range. The man ran to his home around the corner, where deputies caught up with him, Garcia said. The man attempted to get inside, but a deputy used a stun gun to detain him, BCSO said.

SAN ANTONIO โ Stephon Tatum says he misses his motherโs smile, their conversations and her love. The partial remains of his 55-year old mother, Connie Tatum, were found on July 28, 2020, in the 1500 block of Losoya Drive in south Bexar County. โYou only have one mother, and you want someone to help you,โ Stephon Tatum said. The Bexar County Sheriffโs Office has not said how Connie Tatum died, but the agency is investigating the case as a homicide. Stephon Tatum says he has not had a funeral for his mother because her body has not yet been released.
BCSO: Detention deputy prevents inmate suicide attempt
SAN ANTONIO โ A Bexar County Sheriffโs Detention Deputy prevented an inmateโs suicide attempt at the adult detention center early Sunday morning, according to the sheriffโs office. A deputy was conducting an observation check when they found the inmate allegedly attempting to commit suicide, according to officials. The deputy went into the inmates' cell and began performing life-saving measures before more deputies and staff assisted in the response. The BCSO Internal Affairs, Public Integrity, and the Criminal Investigations Division is conducting an investigation into this incident. Two front-runners for Bexar sheriff emerge after fundraising numbers made public
SAN ANTONIO โ Campaign finance records released Wednesday show that two front-runners have emerged in the race for Bexar County Sheriff. Challenger Willie Ng, a Republican, raised more than $152,000 from the start of July through the end of December. Campaign finance figures for Democrat Pete Lozano were not available on the Bexar County Elections Department website as of Thursday morning. Bexar County has had a Democratic sheriff for the last three decades, except for the four-year tenure of Republican Susan Pamerleau, who won by 4 percentage points in 2012. Republicans Donald Trump and Ted Cruz lost Bexar County by about 13 percentage points in 2016 and 20 percentage points in 2018, respectively.
Porch pirate caught on video stealing Amazon package minutes after truck dropped it off
SAN ANTONIO โ UPDATE: The homeowner told KSAT that Bexar County Sheriffโs deputies apprehended the man seen stealing a package off the porch of her home. ORIGINAL: A homeowner in the Stone Creek community on San Antonioโs far West side caught a porch pirate stealing her packages on her homeโs security cameras Monday. The homeowner shared the videos with KSAT and said the man stole the package around 12:30 p.m., just minutes after it was dropped off by an Amazon truck. Barrientes Vela appoints treasurer, officially enters race for Bexar County Sheriff
SAN ANTONIO โ Former Precinct 2 Constable Michelle Barrientes Vela has appointed a campaign treasurer and entered the race to become Bexar County Sheriff, according to paperwork filed with the county elections department. Barrientes Vela, who was formerly removed as constable last week, becomes the seventh candidate to file the necessary paperwork to run. Barrientes Vela triggered the state's resign-to-run law Sept. 23, when she told a KSAT 12 reporter that she planned to run for sheriff in 2020. Firefighters battle massive trailer fire in South Bexar County
SAN ANTONIO โ Area firefighters battled a massive trailer fire in South Bexar County overnight, the Bexar County Sheriff's office said. The fire was called in just before 2 a.m. at a home in the 350 block of Hallmark Path, not far from Highway 281 and Pleasanton Road and just south of Loop 1604. Emergency responders said they arrived to find the trailer fully-involved. The Bexar County Fire Department said they were cautious with the fire because part of the structure collapsed.
