CORPUS CHRISTI, Texas – A dredging vessel at a Texas port hit a propane pipeline Friday, sparking an explosion that sent six people to the hospital and left four others missing, authorities said. The explosion happened at about 8 a.m. in the Port of Corpus Christi when the dredging vessel Waymon L Boyd struck a submerged pipeline, Coast Guard Lt. Marina Lawrence said. The Port of Corpus Christi said in a statement that it was a propane pipeline. Of the six injured, five were airlifted to a San Antonio hospital for severe burns while another was expected to be discharged Friday, said Sean Strawbridge, CEO of the Port of Corpus Christi. Corpus Christi Fire Department Chief Robert Rocha said that upon arrival, firefighters “encountered heavy fire and smoke conditions.” By late Friday morning, the supply line feeding fire had been shut off, Rocha said.

He said while the rate for positive cases is still less than 10% of those tested, the dramatic increase of positive cases and deaths from a week ago is concerning. Today the positive cases have more than tripled over last week, and there are now 70 deaths. While the U.S. is expected to see cases peak in about two weeks, the crest in Texas could be a week or 10 days after that, Abbott said. “There has never been this many people applying for unemployment in Texas,” Abbott said. SAN ANTONIO – When it comes to hitting the jackpot, some stores are luckier than others. Texas Lottery data obtained by KSAT through public information requests showed which stores in the San Antonio area sold the most winning tickets where the prize was worth more than $599 in 2019. In 2019, the convenience store sold 48 winning tickets over $599. The Potranco store sold 11 more tickets than the second luckiest store, the Mobil Mart at 9068 FM 78 in Converse. In December, a San Antonio resident claimed a $1 million prize from a scratch-off purchased at Walmart at 510 Kitty Hawk Road.
