SeaWorld Seven Seas will be open every Friday, Saturday and Sunday from April 2 through May 30, plus Memorial Day. SAN ANTONIO – SeaWorld San Antonio is bringing back its “Seven Seas” food festival that will take place over several weekends this spring. During the event, participants receive a Seven Seas Food Festival Tasting Lanyard and will get to try a variety of samples of food derived from the Caribbean, Italy, Brazil, Asia and elsewhere. Samples include food like Korean Kimchi fries, German apple strudel with frozen vanilla cream, Caribbean jerk chicken or Brazilian roast beef sandwich (Bauru). AdThe Seven Seas Whiskey Tasting Hut will also debut this year, and about 50 beer, wine and cocktail selections will be available for tasting.

SAN ANTONIO – SeaWorld San Antonio has welcomed a new baby chinstrap penguin. A video of the chick hatching was shared by SeaWorld. About 30 chicks have hatched in the 2020-2021 breeding season, making it a very successful season for the penguin breeding program, a spokesperson said. Two special groups can get free 2021 SeaWorld memberships

Preschoolers aged 5 and under and Texas teachers will be eligible for free unlimited admission memberships throughout the 2021 season, but only if they snag them before March 7.

CORPUS CHRISTI- Texas – SeaWorld San Antonio animal care specialists rescued 13 endangered green sea turtles on the upper Laguna Madre in Corpus Christi. “The SeaWorld Rescue team actively monitors both air and water temperatures along the Texas coast, which determines when they will aid in the search or rescue,” Cureau said. “Once it was determined that the temperatures had dropped significantly and the chance for cold-stunned turtles was significant, three members of the SeaWorld Animal Rescue were deployed. According to SeaWorld San Antonio, the group has successfully rescued turtles, dolphins, manatees and even terrestrial animals like opossum, since 2013. Two male penguins at SeaWorld San Antonio are raising a chick of a different penguin species together, park officials said. It isn't uncommon for penguins to foster an egg, but it is less common that it is a same-sex pair, said SeaWorld aviculturist Jason Medina. In the SeaWorld San Antonio habitat, penguins are tracked with identification numbers so keepers can monitor and watch for behavioral patterns. "Most new pairs tend to lose their eggs and it takes a few seasons before they successfully incubate an egg." A pair of penguins has to sit on the eggs to incubate the chick while also protecting it from predators and the cold.

SAN ANTONIO – We’re sure you’ve seen plenty of sonogram pictures before, but have you ever seen one of a beluga whale? New footage released by SeaWorld San Antonio shows one of the park’s beluga whales, Luna, and her baby to be. According to park officials, the staff at SeaWorld San Antonio conduct husbandry training with animals as part of conservation efforts. “Through this specialized training, beluga whales are taught to rest comfortably and hold still so they can be examined by our veterinarians,” SeaWorld San Antonio said in a statement. The gestational period for beluga whales is between 14 and 15 months.

SAN ANTONIO – SeaWorld San Antonio promises a 2021 full of wild fun, starting with weekends open throughout the entire year. In addition to roller coasters and experiences with marine mammals, visitors will also have the chance to learn about wild animals rescued by SeaWorld through the park’s “Wild Days Celebration.”The Wild Days Celebration kicks off Jan. 9 and continues through the last day of the month. Chuck Cureau, a spokesperson for SeaWorld San Antonio, said the celebration is meant to engage the public on the parks’ mission to protect animals. “It’s part of our mission to protect animals and to act on behalf of those animals,” Cureau said. The park’s annual Christmas celebration is returning on select dates starting Nov. 20 and ending Jan. 3Visitors will have the chance to meet Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer and Santa Claus. The park will be open from 1 to 9 p.m. on Nov. 20 – 22, 25 – 29, Dec. 4 – 6, 11 – 13, 18 – 20, 23 -27 and Dec. 30 – Jan. 3. Visitors are required to make reservations to visit SeaWorld San Antonio and are encouraged to do so as early as possible. More than a dozen people had to be rescued form SeaWorld San Antonio roller coaster, officials said

Crews were called out to the amusement park for a technical rescue around 1 p.m. Officials said 13 people were stuck on the Wave Breaker: The Rescue Coaster ride.

SAN ANTONIO - New details were announced Thursday about a roller coaster that, according to SeaWorld San Antonio, will soon be the tallest, fastest and longest wooden roller coaster in Texas. SeaWorld officials said the coaster will be across from the new Turtle Reef exhibit between Orca Stadium and the Rio Loco river rapids ride. "Texas Stingray marks a new wave of excitement for SeaWorld," said SeaWorld San Antonio's vice president of general services, Scott Bacon. BABY BOOM: 7th sea lion pup born at SeaWorld San Antonio this summer
SeaWorld San Antonio is celebrating several new additions this summer in what the park is referring to as a baby boom. Another California sea lion pup was born this week, bringing the total to seven new pups in the last two months. That's not the only kind of baby boom the aquatic park is experiencing this summer. There has also been an uptick in the number of babies born to the park's animal care specialists. Team members from the orca, penguin and sea lion departments all welcomed new bundles of joy as well.
SeaWorld welcomes newborn sea lion pup
SeaWorld San Antonio welcomed the first sea lion of the 2019 pinniped pupping season, it announced Friday. The new sea lion was delivered June 18 by Rachel, a 4-year-old California sea lion, at SeaWorlds Pacific Point Preserve seal and sea lion habitat. The pup will graduate to a solid diet of fish after nursing for anywhere from five months to a year. Though the pup is the first of the year, park officials said more sea lion births are expected throughout the summer. Until then, guests can look at the new pup with its mother as it learns to swim and integrate into the social structure at the parks Pacific Point Preserve habitat.
