President Donald Trump will participate in the Veterans Day observance at Arlington National Cemetery on Wednesday, emerging in public for the first time since his failed reelection bid to take part in the annual presidential rite. Here’s how to get into Texas State Parks for free Sunday
SAN ANTONIO – Texans needing a day of rest and relaxation after the chaotic election season can get into any state park for free on Sunday. The Texas Parks and Wildlife Department is waiving fees at all of the state parks in honor of Veterans Day. “The Texas Parks and Wildlife Department and Texas State Parks are proud to honor the men and women that serve our country in the military,” Rodney Franklin, director of Texas State Parks, said in a news release. “What better way to celebrate their service and dedication than by spending the day at a beautiful Texas State Park.”Veterans Day lands on Wednesday, Nov. 11. TPWD is reminding happy campers that parks have capacity limits, and it is recommended that they reserve a day pass online or by calling 512-389-8900.
Healthcare facility collecting letters for veterans in San Antonio this Veterans Day
Veterans Day is just a few days away, and there is a call to make sure our local veterans are never forgotten. Candace Ramos and her team at Vitas Healthcare have a goal for Veterans Day this year: to collect 175 letters for veterans in the San Antonio community. “It’s about veterans in the San Antonio community, so we today we want to honor those veterans on Veterans Day. “It’s something that they have to carry with them, not just on Veterans Day, but every day moving forward from now,” Ramos said. Veterans Day is Nov. 11, and Vitas is trying to get all of the letters by this Friday, Nov. 6.

SAN ANTONIO – A Vietnam veteran spent this Veterans Day in a comfortable home for the first time in over a decade. When the leaders of two organizations found out she had been living in a shed, they stepped up immediately. Cotungo heard about the homeless veteran’s situation right after a couple from Missouri generously donated a recreation vehicle to Adapt-A-Vet. "They're couch-surfing women, living in their cars. They're not living out on the streets often times, so it's hard to get an account of how many homeless women veterans there are," Hart said.

SAN ANTONIO – The Department of Veterans Affairs paid tribute Monday for the service and sacrifice of veterans at a Veterans Day ceremony at Fort Sam Houston National Cemetery. The ceremony included remarks by Dr. Kat Strauss, Air Force, LTC (Ret.). Elected officials, including U.S. Rep. Will Hurd, attended the event. The master of ceremony was Tom Earnest. The Texas Children’s Choir, the MacArthur High School AJROTC and the Beethoven Band performed at the ceremony.
