School board races are 'energetic' in Wimberley. They just elected one of its most right-leaning members.
We didn't have a dog in this particular election, but it was refreshing to see so much energy around a school board race. "Are school board elections always this exciting around here," I asked a volunteer. This off-year school board race caught the attention of Matthew Dowd, the chief strategist for Bush-Cheney in 2004, now Democratic contender for Texas lieutenant governor and Wimberley resident. Anderson, funnily enough, was a former two-term WISD school board president whose tenured ended in 2013. It's not so easy to keep seeing these towns as bucolic playgrounds when battles over Pride flags, masks and books — especially among school board races — catch your attention.mysanantonio.com
