Recognize him? Police, Crime Stoppers seek suspect in robbery of Circle K convenience store
SAN ANTONIO โ San Antonio police and Crime Stoppers are looking for the person responsible for robbing a Northwest Side convenience store earlier this month. According to police, around 1:30 a.m. the man entered the store and threatened the store clerk just before demanding cash from the register. Anyone with any knowledge of the incident is urged to call Crime Stoppers at (210) 224-STOP. Tips can also be texted to CRIMES (274637) or by visiting the Crime Stoppers website. Crime Stoppers will pay up to $5,000 for information that leads to an arrest.
Man shot, killed under NW Side bridge, police say
SAN ANTONIO โ San Antonio police are investigating after a man was found fatally shot under a bridge late Monday night. Officers were called around 9:50 p.m. to the intersection of Fredericksburg Road and West Drive, not far from Interstate 10 and West Woodlawn Avenue after receiving reports of shots fired. According to police, when officers arrived they found a man in his 40s deceased under a bridge. Police said unfortunately, they have no witness or suspect information. SAPD also did not identify the victim, intending to notify next of kin.
San Antonio Humane Society campuses need repair after several pipes burst due to winter storm
SAN ANTONIO โ Just like so many in our viewing area the San Antonio Humane Society has experienced severe water damage from several busted pipes. Both of the nonprofitโs locations -- the main campus on Fredericksburg Road and its Brooks Spay and Neuter clinic on the South Side -- had split pipes from last weekโs severe cold weather. The organization said the no kill animal shelterโs Brooks clinic had such severe damage that the staff there is working out of the main campus until the damage can be repaired. โJust like everyone else, this leak is going to be costly to our organization,โ Kim Hinze, Director of Development & Public Relations for the San Antonio Humane Society said. AdThe nonprofit said thankfully the main campus that houses their animals didnโt loose power for long periods of time and that the animals were kept dry, warm and safe.
Man, woman stabbed in argument outside Northwest Side apartment; Suspect in custody, SAPD says
San Antonio police say two people were stabbed outside an apartment complex in the 9800 block of Fredericksburg Road. SAN ANTONIO โ San Antonio police say an argument escalated into a stabbing outside a Northwest Side apartment complex on Thursday, resulting in two people being hospitalized and one suspect in custody. Police were called to the Dominion Park apartment complex in the 9800 block of Fredericksburg around noon, Officer Cory Schuler said. Officers found a man who was critically injured and a woman who suffered minor injuries. The suspect was apprehended blocks away from the scene of the crime, Schuler said.
Torchyโs Tacos to open 4th San Antonio location in early 2021
SAN ANTONIO โ Another Torchyโs Tacos is heading to the Alamo City, this time in the Medical Center. The Austin-based taco chain announced its newest San Antonio location is set to open in February 2021. It will be housed at 8435 Wurzbach Road, situated between Fredericksburg Road and Sid Katz Drive. Torchyโs, which started as a food truck in Austin in 2006, first arrived in San Antonio in 2014 with a Lincoln Heights spot. Its Green Chile Queso and Diablo Sauce are also sold at Whole Foods stores in Texas.
SAPD: Driver of pickup truck flees after crash with sedan; 1 hospitalized
SAN ANTONIO โ San Antonio police are searching for a driver who they say crashed a pickup truck into a sedan and fled late Wednesday night. The crash occurred around 10:30 p.m. on Fredericksburg Road near De Chantle Road on the cityโs Northwest Side. According to police, the male driver was turning from Fredericksburg Road when he crashed the black Ford F-150 into a gray Hyundai Accent while turning on a flashing yellow arrow. Police said the driver of the truck fled on foot towards Gardina Street and was not located. When found, the missing driver will be charged with felony failure to stop and render aid, police said.
Driver of 18-wheeler fails to navigate turn, damages bridge, police say
SAN ANTONIO โ Emergency crews responded to a big rig that damaged a Loop 410 turnaround late Monday night, San Antonio police said. The incident occurred around 9 p.m. on a Loop 410 bridge near Fredericksburg Road. According to police, the driver of the 18-wheeler was unable to successfully take the turnaround and ended up with the trailer dangling over the bridge. Police said the back wheels hit the bridge, bending the rim of the vehicle. Texas Department of Transportation officials inspected the bridge and said the damage was simply cosmetic and that there was no structural damage.

Man dead following shooting on Northwest Side, San Antonio police say
SAN ANTONIO San Antonio police say one man is dead following a shooting on the Northwest Side late Sunday. Officers responded to the scene around 10:40 p.m. at an apartment complex on Cinnamon Creek Drive, not far from Fredericksburg Road. The man, believed to be in his late teens, was dead when officers arrived, police said. Details regarding the shooting have not been released, but one person has been detained for questioning. It will be updated as more information becomes available.

Man charged with murder in fatal shooting of 16-year-old girl in Balcones Heights, officials say
SAN ANTONIO The Bexar County Sheriffs Office announced Wednesday that a new charge has been added against a man investigators say killed a 16-year-old girl in May. FIRST REPORT: 16-year-old killed, two arrested at apartment complex shooting in Balcones Heights, police sayAccording to investigators, the shooting happened at an apartment complex on Fredericksburg Road. Balcones Heights police officers arrested Kevin Clark, 18, and Eric Hernandez, 21, at the scene. During the exchange of fire, 16-year-old Miranda Martinez was hit with a .40 caliber bullet fired from Clarks Glock pistol. BCSO said Clark now faces a murder charge, a charge for unlawful carry of a weapon and a charge for aggravated assault with a deadly weapon.
Stolen World War II-era cannon recovered in storage unit miles away in northeast San Antonio
SAN ANTONIO A 57 mm cannon that was stolen from American Legion Alamo Post 2 on Fredericksburg Road was recovered overnight in a rental storage unit miles away near Loop 1604 and Bulverde Road. "We're just happy, happy to have it back, said Carlos Mendez, first vice commander of American Legion Alamo Post 2. FIRST REPORT: World War II cannon stolen from American Legion post in San AntonioMendez said he was impressed by how the case was handled and how quickly the cannon, which was believed to have been stolen on Sunday, was recovered late Monday night and dropped off overnight on Tuesday several hours later. Mendez said it's still unknown what motive the thieves had for stealing one of the two cannons outside the post. As for the thieves, post member Geronimo Franco asked, "You really thought you could get away with something like this?"
World War II cannon stolen from American Legion post in San Antonio
SAN ANTONIO Over the weekend, thieves hauled away a 57 mm cannon from the American Legion Alamo Post 2 on Fredericksburg Road. Shame on you for taking it, said Geronimo Franco, an American Legion member. People that drive by this post identify the post because of the guns out front, said Arturo Escobar, an American Legion member. American Legion members said the canon is a symbol of the nations service and sacrifice during the war. American Legion members said they hope someone will call the San Antonio Police Department with any information.
Officials: Woman crashes into utility pole, causing power outage on Northwest Side
SAN ANTONIO โ San Antonio police said a woman driving south on Fredericksburg Road crashed into a utility pole, causing a power outage in the area. The crash happened Saturday afternoon on Fredericksburg Road and Louis Pasteur Drive. According to police, the woman became distracted and veered off the road at Louis Pasteur Drive, destroying the utility pole in the crash. The womanโs car flipped on its side and came to a halt, officials said. CPS Energy is on scene replacing the pole damaged in the incident.

The incident occurred around 3 a.m. and ended near Loop 410 and Fredericksburg Road on the cityโs Northwest Side. According to police, officers attempted to pull the driver over, but he instead sped off, leading police throughout the area. Police said the Eagle helicopter picked up the vehicle on Interstate 35 and followed him south, when he eventually sped west before finally coming to a stop near Fredericksburg Road. Authorities said the man then attempted to run on foot, but he was quickly apprehended by officers.

Altars, art decorate 2 1/2 miles of Deco District for Diฬa de Los Muertos on The Old Spanish Trail
SAN ANTONIO โ Memories of loved ones continue to be celebrated around San Antonio for Day of the Dead. Centro Cultural Aztlan hosted Diฬa de Los Muertos on The Old Spanish Trail, a 2 1/2-mile spread of altars and art installations along Fredericksburg Road. KSAT 12's Jessie Degollado reported from the celebration that stretched from the Deco District H-E-B, located at the intersection of Hildebrand Avenue and Fredericksburg Road, to the intersection of North Flores and West Elmira streets. Also along Fredericksburg Road, drivers of "low riders" displayed altars in the trunks of their cars. At 5 p.m., a procession led guests from the H-E-B to Centro Cultural Aztlan at 1800 Fredericksburg Road.
