Weslaco police are investigating a homicide that occurred early Saturday morning. According to a release, the department responded to a report of a stabbing in the 100 block of South Cedro Street about 1 a.m. Saturday. “Weslaco EMS arrived and transported both victims to nearby hospitals, where one of the victims succumbed to his injuries,” a news release from police said. Homicide investigation underway after woman found dead in her apartment, San Antonio police say
SAN ANTONIO – A homicide investigation is underway after San Antonio police said a woman in her 50s was found dead in her West Side apartment. The woman was discovered around 2:30 p.m. Friday at an apartment complex in the 7600 block of Highway 90 East off Springdale Drive. Officers were dispatched for a welfare check on the woman, and that’s when they found she had suffered apparent trauma. BCSO: Human remains found in SE Bexar County believed to be woman, several persons of interest connected to case
SAN ANTONIO – Bexar County sheriff’s deputies have identified 10 persons of interest in connection to the human remains that were found on the side of the road in Southeast Bexar County earlier this week. The sheriff’s office says the remains are believed to belong to a woman in her 30s or 40s. Homicide investigators and the street crimes unit executed a search warrant at the home late Friday and found blood evidence as well that was linked to the woman’s remains. Work crews picking up trash near WW White and Higdon roads on Thursday discovered what is believed to be human remains on the side of the road, the Bexar County Sheriff’s Office said. Sheriff Javier Salazar said the work crews came across a tarp and attempted to pick it up but it felt heavier than normal and noticed what appeared to be human hair. The desolate stretch of road on the southeast side of the county is surrounded by grassy fields with no buildings in sight. Salazar said they don’t know the condition of the body. “It is a small package the body is in, so right now we just don’t know what the state of it is,” Salazar said.mysanantonio.com

Balloons released in memory of toddler that died from injuries at San Antonio hospital
SAN ANTONIO – Balloons were released in memory of a 2-year-old boy that died at a San Antonio hospital earlier this month. The balloons were released Friday afternoon at the Kids of the World Day Care Center for Gideon Barideaux, on what would’ve been his third birthday. Barideaux died Aug. 9 at the hospital from a subdural hemorrhage, according to officials. The boy was first taken to Peterson Regional Medical Center before he was flown to University Hospital by Air Medical, according to a news release put out by Kerrville police, where he died three days later. Texas Department of Public Safety asking for public’s help in solving 1979 homicide of 7-year-old girl
The Texas Department of Public Safety is asking for the public’s help in solving the 1979 homicide of 7-year-old Elizabeth Barclay. Barclay was killed by a 30 to 35-year-old man who kidnapped her when she was out with her brother and friend, according to officials. Barclay’s remains were found on the side of a road in Van Zandt County, police said. According to Texas Public Safety, the case was reopened about a year ago by Texas Rangers. They are asking for anyone with any information on the suspect to come forward.

He wasn’t ready to go,” said Norma Andrews, the mother of Christopher Alderete, who was fatally shot early Monday morning. “They said that he was having relations with a female, but they were just out there talking and ended up falling asleep, you know,” Andrews said. “This guy, (Hernández), wanted a girl that didn’t want him anymore, and (she) wanted to be with my son (so, Hernández) wanted to get rid of my son. Andrews said the arrest gives her family peace, yet they fear the healing won’t begin until Hernandez goes on trial.
23-year-old arrested in fatal shooting of man inside car, police say
SAN ANTONIO – A man who walked up to a pair inside a vehicle and opened fire on a man, killing him, has been arrested, according to the San Antonio Police Department. Police said Hernandez walked up to a car that the victim, identified as 25-year-old Christopher Michael Alderete, and a woman were sitting in. The woman told police that Hernandez asked Alderete if “Brandy” was inside the vehicle and then asked for his name, the affidavit states. The woman exited the car and walked into the alley when she saw a white vehicle with Hernandez in the driver’s seat. Hernandez was arrested Tuesday, booking records show.

Michael Morales is facing two charges of murder after confessing to the murders of another man and his common-law wife, Salazar said. An argument ensued between the suspect and the victim, which then escalated to a struggle between the two, the sheriff said. Morales did not sleep in his home, but he showed up Tuesday morning and discussed what had happened hours before with his common-law wife, Salazar said. The woman, 45, became irate after hearing about the murder and an argument ensued between her and Morales, Salazar said.

Six suspects arrested in shooting death at apartment complex in San Marcos
SAN MARCOS, Texas – San Marcos police have arrested six suspects in connection with a shooting death at an apartment complex. Police said several guns were found in the green Infiniti SUV. John Coronado, 19, of San Marcos, and Angelo Quihuiz, 18, of Kyle, were taken in for questioning. A 15-year-old juvenile male who was also in the vehicle was taken to the Hays County Juvenile Detention Center. San Marcos police said this is the seventh homicide in the city in 2019.
