Somerset tops Uvalde in sub-varsity football
The Uvalde Coyotes lost a pair of high school sub-varsity football road games last Thursday night at Somerset. Somerset’s Bulldogs beat the Coyotes, 20-8, in junior varsity action, and topped the Uvaldeans, 14-6, in freshman football. Last Tuesday night, the Coyotes suffered a 7-0 beating at the hands of the San Antonio Harlan Hawks. SAN ANTONIO - A driver was killed after slamming into an electrical pole on the Southwest Side early Saturday morning, police said. The medical examiner's office identified as 66-year-old David Flores. The crash happened around 2:30 a.m. near Somerset and Palo Alto. Police said the driver was speeding, lost control and missed a sharp curve. Witnesses reported seeing the driver swerving before the crash.
