Open-air Frida Kahlo exhibit will make its world debut at San Antonio Botanical Garden this spring
Mexican artist Frida Kahloโs connection to plants and the โnatural worldโ will be on display in the San Antonio Botanical Gardenโs newest exhibit. Frida Kahlo Oasis, inspired by the iconโs Casa Azul and its lush garden in Mexico City, will debut on May 8 and run through Nov. 2. Botanical Garden officials said it will feature vegetation, like Mexican native plants, tropical foliage and desert plants, that influenced Kahloโs famous art. Casa Azul is where the renowned artist was born and was her final resting place. These San Antonio-area businesses have announced closures, delays due to inclement weather
SAN ANTONIO โ With the last round of wintry weather dropping snow and ice in San Antonio on Thursday, the following businesses have announced closures and delays. All elective surgeries and procedures at The Childrenโs Hospital of San Antonio are canceled on Thursday. All inpatient areas and the Emergency Room at The Childrenโs Hospital of San Antonio still remain open, along with The Childrenโs Hospital of San Antonio Emergency Center โ Westover Hills. San Antonio Botanical Garden giving free admission to teachers, school staff for limited time
SAN ANTONIO โ The San Antonio Botanical Garden is offering two days of free admission to teachers, school administration and support staff during the season of giving. The Botanical Garden said the staff can redeem the offer on Dec. 28 and 29. They must work in Bexar County, and the offer is for teachers in kindergarten through 12th grade. The offer is available online only. The Botanical Garden said the offer is a โthank you to the teachers and faculty who are working tirelessly to educate children and keep them safe during these challenging time.โAdmission for adults is normally $15.
San Antonio Botanical Garden offering โholiday movies by moonlightโ
SAN ANTONIO โ The San Antonio Botanical Garden is offering a double-feature of holiday movies that will take place this weekend, according to garden officials. โThe Polar Expressโ tells the story of a young boy who embarks on a magical adventure to the North Pole on the Polar Express, while learning about friendship, bravery, and the spirit of Christmas. Garden officials said the movies will be shown on the Greehey lawn and that hot cocoa, sโmores, and movie-inspired drinks and food will be available for purchase. Guests are also welcomed to bring low-riding lawn chairs and blankets, the press release said. Those interested in buying tickets can visit the Botanical Garden website ($15 adults; $10 child).
San Antonio Botanical Garden hosting Halloween events for families, adults throughout October
SAN ANTONIO โ Several autumn and Halloween events are on the San Antonio Botanical Gardenโs schedule this weekend โ a perfect combination with the upcoming cold front. The Botanical Garden is hosting Fall-O-Weekends this month, along with other events for adults, children and horror fans. Tickets to the scavenger hunt cost $35, and they include a โgarden-inspired tasting menuโ and a pumpkin sangria. San Antonio Botanical Garden Chef Katrina Flores and Silo Terrace Oyster Bar Chef Joseph T. Martinez will be the instructors. From 6:30-9:30 p.m. on Oct. 29-31, Horror on the Lake will put a frightful twist on the Botanical Garden.
Larger than life sculptures debut at San Antonio Botanical Garden
The San Antonio Botanical Garden is inviting visitors to reminisce and explore visual art form through their newest exhibit OrigamiintheGardenยฒ. OrigamiintheGardenยฒ features larger than life sculptures at the San Antonio Botanical Garden (Copyright 2020 by KSAT - All rights reserved.) At the garden, the sculptures are a bit more sturdy, Eliana Rodriguez, marketing director of the San Antonio Botanical Garden said. In case you missed opening weekend, thereโs still a chance to participate in origami-inspired events at the San Antonio Botanical Garden. โAlso, (there will be) some guided tours, Japanese-inspired cocktails and beer.โOrigamiintheGardenยฒ will be on display at the San Antonio Botanical Garden until May 2021.

SAN ANTONIO โ The San Antonio Botanical Garden will unveil a new garden exhibit this weekend. The opening weekend schedule will include guided and self-guided tours, origami-inspired activities, a cash bar, food prepared by celebrity chef Jason Dady and other food. Storytelling by Sue Kuentz will also take place on Saturday only, according to the Botanical Garden. OrigamiintheGardenยฒ was created by American artists Jennifer and Kevin Box and is making its Texas debut here in San Antonio. Regular admission rates will apply for opening weekend, including $15 for adults, $13 for students and those with a military ID, and $12 for children 3-13.

Dady has partnered up with the San Antonio Botanical Garden to open his latest concept Jardin inside the historic Daniel J. Sullivan Carriage House. It was important for us to partner with a chef of Jason Dadys caliber that could bring delicious, locally-sourced food to the Botanical Garden, San Antonio Botanical Gardens Chief Executive Officer Sabina Carr said. SAN ANTONIO The San Antonio Botanical Garden is trying to give kids something to do and get them active. Starting on June 29th, a chef cooking camp and an art and nature camp will begin. The chef cooking camp is virtual, parents can pick up a box of ingredients the week before. The art and nature camp will be done in-person for half days. Parents still have time to sign up their kids for either of the two camps on the Botanical Garden website.
