Nestlé recalls 762,000 pounds of pepperoni Hot Pockets
MOUNT STERLING, Ky. – Nestlé Prepared Foods is recalling more than 762,000 pounds of pepperoni Hot Pockets, the U.S. Department of Agriculture’s Food Safety and Inspection Service said. The problem was discovered when the company received four consumer complaints of extraneous material in pepperoni Hot Pockets, the department said. The company has received one report of a “minor oral injury” associated with consumption of the product, the USDA said. The recall is for 54-ounce packages containing 12 “Nestlé Hot Pockets Brand Sandwiches: Premium Pepperoni made with pork, chicken and beef pizza garlic buttery crust.” Affected boxes have a “Best before Feb 2022” date and lot codes of 0318544624, 0319544614, 0320544614 and 0321544614, the department said. “Consumers who have purchased this product are urged not to consume it,” the USDA said.

Cottonelle flushable wipes recalled due to possible bacteria contamination
If you were one of the millions of people who searched for toilet paper this year amid the coronavirus pandemic you might have picked up some Cottonelle Flushable Wipes as an alternative if you weren’t buying them already. Now, Cottonelle has issued a recall for specific lots of Cottonelle Flushable Wipes and Cottonelle GentlePlus Flushable Wipes manufactured between Feb. 7 and Sept. 14. “The affected product could show the presence of a bacterium (Pluralibacter gergoviae) which naturally occurs in the environment and in the human body,” according to Cottonelle. There is no need to return the product to the store and all other Cottonelle products with codes not included in the recall are considered safe to use. Texas – Various fresh fruit items sold by Walmart have been voluntarily recalled due to listeria concerns. The U.S. Food and Drug Administration posted the announcement Saturday and said select stores in nine states, including Texas, are affected by the recall. FDA officials discovered Listeria monocytogenes on equipment used in an area near where the affected products are packaged. “Listeria monocytogenes is an organism which can cause serious and sometimes fatal infections in young children, frail or elderly people, and others with weakened immune systems,” according to the FDA. Product codes of various fresh fruit items affect cut and/or sliced apples, grapes, mangos, pineapples and cantaloupe distributed by Walmart, including those containers labeled “Freshness Guaranteed.”Walmart stores are removing the recalled products from store shelves and Country Fresh has not received any reports of illness, the FDA reported.

Dog food recall issued due to possible salmonella contamination
A nationwide voluntary recall has been issued by Sunshine Mills, Inc. due to possible salmonella contamination in some of the company’s dog food products. Nature’s Menu Super Premium Dog Food with a Blend of Real Chicken & Quail is being recalled voluntarily the company announced on Monday. The recalled products, according to Sunshine Mills, were distributed in retail stores nationally and can be identified with codes UPC 7015514363 and UPC 7015514365. The potential for contamination was found after Georgia Department of Agriculture tested a sample of the 3-pound bag of dog food and it tested positive for salmonella. Hasbro recalling Nerf water blaster toys due to high levels of lead
SAN ANTONIO – If you bought a Hasbro Inc. water blaster toy for your kid this summer, you may want to make sure it hasn’t been recalled. Hasbro on Wednesday recalled the Nerf Super Soaker XP20 and the Nerf Super Soaker XP30 due to toxic material, according to the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission. The sticker on the water tanks of the water guns “contain levels of lead in the ink that exceed the federal lead content ban,” the commission states. The XP20 is a green and orange hand-held water blaster that sold for $8, and the XP30 is orange and blue and sold for $13. Consumers should contact Hasbro for information on how to obtain a full refund.

Red onions from a California supplier are linked to a salmonella outbreak that has sickened nearly 400 people nationwide, including residents in Texas, according to the U.S. Food and Drug Administration. The FDA issued a press release on the outbreak Friday, July 31, claiming the contaminated red onions are from Thomson International, Inc. of Bakersfield, Calif. Although the FDA believes red onions are likely the source of the salmonella outbreak, it will also be recalling all of the varieties of onions that could have come into contact with the contaminated red onions. Over 40,000 pounds of ground beef recalled due to E. coli concerns
A New Jersey company is recalling nearly 43,000 pounds of raw ground beef products because they may be contaminated with E. coli O157:H7, the US Department of Agricultures Food Safety and Inspection Service announced Saturday. The raw ground beef products produced by Lakeside Refrigerated Services, a company in Swedesboro, New Jersey, were shipped to retail locations nationwide, according to FSIS. The recalled products were produced on June 1 and have the establishment number "EST. The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention estimates that there are 265,000 STEC infections each year in the United States. If found, the product should be thrown away or returned to place of purchase, according to FSIS.
