TV shakeups: KENS 5 and KSAT announce personnel changes
San Antonio TV stations KSAT 12 and KENS 5 experienced personnel changes this week. She will deliver San Antonio traffic updates at 4 and 5 p.m. and will continue to produce stories Monday through Friday. Over at KSAT 12, the station is losing one of its sports reporters. On Monday, Jessica Hunt announced on Twitter that she is leaving San Antonio to pursue a social media management role in Seattle. Bexar Deputy on Leave for Authorized Traffic Stops Previously Disciplined for Meddling in Domestic Violence Case
ShutterstockA Bexar County Sheriffs employee put on leave last month over accusations he made unauthorized traffic stops was previously suspended for interfering in a domestic violence case, KSAT 12 reports The newly unearthed allegations against Christopher Jackson, an 18-year BCSO veteran, are contained in his county personnel records, according to the TV station.Jackson was placed on administrative leave on April 29 after a Northside Independent School District officer saw him make unauthorized traffic stops in an unmarked SUV outfitted to resemble an official patrol vehicle, according to an earlier KSAT story The station now reports that Jackson was also disciplined in 2012 over accusations that he threatened a woman and a fellow deputy when he showed up at the scene of a domestic violence incident and refused to leave.According to KSAT, Jackson threatened assault the deputy and to haul the woman in to jail, even though he was off duty.The BCSO veteran was suspended 30 days over the incident, but the penalty was later reduced to five days after he took part in a hearing, according to the story.sacurrent.com

He originally was handed a contemplated indefinite suspension in January, but the proposed punishment was later reduced, records show. At one point during the 2018 incident, Castillo leaned down and said into an officers body camera, (Expletive) Miles Earwood okay (expletive) him okay. He wants to get involved in this relationship he can go (expletive) his punk (expletive) okay...you can tell the (expletive) captain to go (expletive) his self. Alright good...I aint scared of no (expletive) Captain, previous suspension records show. Records do not indicate if the same woman was involved in both disputes with Castillo.
Firefighters battle intense flames, smoke in Windcrest house fire
Multiple fire departments responded to a house fire in Windcrest early Tuesday morning. The fire was called in around 3 a.m. at a home in the 225 block of Windcrest Drive, not far from Walzem Road and Loop 410. Fire officials said firefighters arrived to find both heavy smoke and flames. The Windcrest Fire Department, the Converse Fire Department, and the Bexar County Fire Department were among the many departments who answered the fire call. Altars, art decorate 2 1/2 miles of Deco District for Dia de Los Muertos on The Old Spanish Trail
Centro Cultural Aztlan hosted Dia de Los Muertos on The Old Spanish Trail, a 2 1/2-mile spread of altars and art installations along Fredericksburg Road. KSAT 12's Jessie Degollado reported from the celebration that stretched from the Deco District H-E-B, located at the intersection of Hildebrand Avenue and Fredericksburg Road, to the intersection of North Flores and West Elmira streets. RELATED: Centro Cultural Aztlan holds first Dia de Los Muertos on The Old Spanish TrailDeborah Keller-Rihn, curator for Centro Cultural Aztlan's Da de Los Muertos on The Old Spanish Trail event, said the area surrounding Fredericksburg Road in the Deco District was recently designated "historically significant." Also along Fredericksburg Road, drivers of "low riders" displayed altars in the trunks of their cars. At 5 p.m., a procession led guests from the H-E-B to Centro Cultural Aztlan at 1800 Fredericksburg Road.

SAN ANTONIO - Eva Longoria, grand marshal of the Catrinas on the River parade, welcomed guests to the Day of the Dead river parade, the first in San Antonio, on Friday. Longoria, a Corpus Christi native whose parents live in San Antonio, told KSAT 12 it was an honor to be a part of the memorable event. Follow BSCO during domestic violence warrant roundup
SAN ANTONIO - Several dozen people in Bexar County wanted for warrants on domestic violence are now behind bars. It happened after the Bexar County Sheriff's Office rounded up several wanted offenders in light of National Domestic Violence Awareness Month. "We are all concentrated on doing this round up today," Tobleman said. Domestic violence is a known problem in Bexar County. When District Attorney Joe Gonzalez took office in January, he determined he had to take on a 2,000-case backlog all of those related to domestic violence.

Firefighters rescue man from fire through townhouse window
SAN ANTONIO - San Antonio firefighters used a ladder to rescue a man from a fire through an apartment window, fire officials said Wednesday. Fire officials said the fire originated in the upstairs unit and that firefighters could see both the fire and a man in a window when they arrived. Firefighters climbed a ladder and rescued the man through the window, fire officials said. Firefighters said neither they nor the rescued man suffered any injuries and that no other units were damaged by the fire. According to the San Antonio Fire Department website, as many as 14 units answered the call.

Taxpayers paid for training conference that Barrientes Vela skipped, again
County commissioners are scheduled to formally announce a replacement for Barrientes Vela Wednesday morning, despite a lawsuit filed Monday by Barrientes Vela that attempted to block them from doing so. She will remain in office until at least October 11, when a district court judge will hold a hearing on the temporary restraining order filed by Barrientes Vela. Barrientes Vela used a county credit card for the purchase, then filed an expense report and the county paid off the balance. Auditor records show Barrientes Vela used her county travel credit card to book a hotel room in Corpus Christi three days before the conference started. Futures in doubtCounty commissioners are scheduled to name Barrientes Vela's replacement from a list of nearly 30 applicants Wednesday.
