Neighbors relieved by quick arrest in deadly shooting of 19-year-old man
SAN ANTONIO, Texas – News of a quick arrest in a deadly shooting has come as a relief to some of the people who live in the far Northwest Side neighborhood. The Bexar County Medical Examiner’s Office has identified the man who was killed late Wednesday night as Michael Garcia-Sanchez, 19. The report says officers in the helicopter spotted a car in a nearby alley, then saw it suddenly drive back to the shooting scene. They attempted to question the three men in the car but they refused to cooperate, the report says. The report did not say whether Paulino was among the group in the car who officers questioned.

SAPD, SAFD conduct honor procession for officer who died of COVID-19, healthcare professionals
SAN ANTONIO – Members of the San Antonio Police and San Antonio Fire Departments conducted an honor procession through downtown streets Thursday night to honor an officer who died of COVID-19 as well as the city’s health care workers. Officer Onofre Serna died last week, SAPD confirmed on Thursday. Last week, city and SAPD officials announced that an officer who had been with the department since 1985 and had served the community for more than 35 years had died of COVID-19. His name was not released until Thursday. SAPD and SAFD employees drove emergency vehicles in Thursday night’s processional, which started at 6:30 p.m. at the SAPD central substation and traveled through the downtown area.

Man shot in face following argument with woman; suspect still at large, San Antonio police say
SAN ANTONIO – The suspect accused of shooting a man in the face at a West Side apartment complex is still at large, San Antonio police said on Sunday. That’s when the man got into an argument with a woman and her boyfriend overheard the confrontation, grabbed his gun and fired at the man several times, grazing his cheek once. After the shooting, the man drove to his home in the 800 block of Darby Boulevard before 2:45 a.m. Sunday morning and called police. Police said the bullet left the man with a significant wound, but he is expected to recover. Etoy McGarity said her husband, Charles Pryor, 48, had so many great qualities, including being a mentor to children on the East Side. I just wanted him to be there.”That dark evening, Etoy McGarity said her husband had a bad feeling. “She was screaming and crying, and I was trying to stay strong and to calm her down,” Etoy McGarity said. Since the shooting, the family has moved, and Etoy McGarity said she struggles with post-traumatic stress disorder.
