California: OK to use Moderna vaccine after illness reports
(AP Photo/Damian Dovarganes)SACRAMENTO, Calif. – California on Wednesday said it’s safe to resume using a batch of Moderna coronavirus vaccine after some people fell ill and a halt to injections was recommended. About 330,000 doses from the lot had been distributed to nearly 300 providers in California this month. More than 4 million doses had been shipped and about 1.5 million had been administered as of Tuesday, according to figures from the state public health department. “The chief obstacle we are facing is not enough doses,” said Roland Pickens, director of San Francisco’s public health care system, at a supervisors’ hearing Wednesday. The total of 694 new deaths is second to the record 708 reported Jan. 8, according to the state Department of Public Health.

Dog stays by brother’s side after he’s hit by a car, left on the side of the road
PASCO COUNTY, Florida – In Mac Steinmeyer’s fenced in backyard a yellow lab named Brennan soaks up the sun. Brennan's been doing a lot of that lately — his determination surprises Steinmeyer since just two weeks ago Brennan was hit by a car and left on the side of Darby Road in Dade city. “But in this situation the dog stayed with him because of his injury.”The dogs' owner picked up Dale but left Brennan in the hands of Pasco County Animal services. Volunteers at Maxx and Me knew they needed to help save his life after one vet told them Brennan should be put down. After he saw a specialist, they determined they can help Brennan.
HS Volleyball Highlights: October 8th
District supremacy was on the line Tuesday night, as Clark remained unbeaten with a 3-1 victory over District 28-6A rival Brandeis, while Brennan rallied to top Taft. In District 27-5A, Alamo Heights continued their hot streak with a road sweep of rival Jefferson and Highlands kept pace with a win over Edison.

SAN ANTONIO, Texas – The Big Game in our Big Game Coverage in week 7 of the high school football season features the second-ranked team in the area - the undefeated O’Connor Panthers - squaring off against the fifth-ranked Brandeis Broncos, whose only loss this season came against Brennan two weeks ago. ”They are 4-1 and we are 5-0,” said senior O’Connor offensive lineman Brannon Brown. ”Let’s go at it and see who the better team is, just straight up,” said Panthers talented junior quarterback David Dodd. ”They have a really good team, but we have a really good team as well. “They are a really good football team,” said Brandeis head football coach David Branscom.
