The district said in a statement Friday it has “investigated all allegations of assault and has taken the appropriate action to address them through the student code of conduct and with law enforcement.” The district did not include what the result of those investigations have been, but its statement also referenced “ongoing criminal investigations.”

So how was a small electric company that is fed energy from CPS in San Antonio able to stay on? “Our customers so far have been doing what they need to be doing,” Low said. “Our guys are sitting here looking at where the load is and we’re moving stuff around to keep us from having outages,” Low said. As of publishing, just under 7,000 customers in San Antonio were still without power, it was previously more than 300,000 customers.
Soto helps spur Southside's four-game winning streak

Second COVID-19 wave at Floresville veterans home grows as 54 new infections reported
FLORESVILLE, Texas – A veterans home in Floresville has been dealing with another COVID-19 outbreak that has so far infected 40 residents and 14 staff members, according to the Texas General Land Office, the state agency that oversees the facility. The Frank M. Tejeda Texas State Veterans Home in Floresville is testing its residents and staff on a weekly basis, and cases have started to climb. The veterans home reported another outbreak in April 2020, soon after the beginning of the pandemic. Still, due to the uptick in COVID-19 cases, the VLB has tightened some of its restrictions at the facility to help combat the spread. Dozens of hospitals, urgent care clinics and H-E-B pharmacies in Bexar County are slated to receive 30,200 doses of the Moderna vaccine this week. Made by Moderna, the vaccine requires two doses like the already approved Pfizer vaccine. The Moderna vaccine was endorsed by a government advisory panel on Thursday in a 20-0 vote. Some rural areas that had been waiting for word on when they would receive shipments will be included in week 2, data shows. Last week, nearly 30,000 doses of the Pfizer-made vaccine were shipped to San Antonio-area hospitals and military bases.

FLORESVILLE, Texas – A Floresville man is taking a chance and starting a business during the COVID-19 pandemic in his hometown. This was a life dream of mine, and I’m going to do it. I’m going to make it work,” Guevara said. The Floresville EDC said it has already distributed more than $64,000 to small businesses during the COVID-19 pandemic using sales tax money. Floresville set to break ground on first Starbucks in Wilson County
Floresville, Texas – For most of us we can drive up to a Starbucks at any time, but in Wilson County that wasn’t an option until now. The Floresville City Manager has announced that a Starbucks is being developed. In an announcement on Facebook, city manager Henrietta Turner said that the project will create local jobs and support economic development. “This is one of the many projects that are in the works, as we continue the partnership with the City of Floresville," Economic Development Executive Director Benjamin T. Reed said. “With the addition of Starbucks to the area, this allows us to better compete with a different type of retailer.”The Starbucks will be located off Highway 181.

COVID-19 outbreak reported at Floresville nursing home
More than half of the residents at Prairie Meadows Rehabilitation Center in Floresville have tested positive for COVID-19. A spokesperson for the nursing home confirmed on Monday that 26 of the 48 residents were infected. We tested all residents and staff on June 3 and at that time everyone was negative, spokesperson Joe Gimenez said. Our goals are to manage risk and to enhance recovery, Gimenez said. The following protocols have worked at other facilities and will work at Prairie Meadows.Residents will be closely monitored and the staff will utilize telemedecine from physicians to assist in the recovery effort.
Arrest warrants issued for Floresville ISD board member accused of donkey theft
WILSON COUNTY, Texas A board member of the Floresville Independent School District is wanted on multiple misdemeanor charges in Wilson County after investigators said she and two other people stole a donkey from a pasture west of Floresville. Alena Berlanga, 49, will face charges of theft $100-$750 and criminal trespassing after she turns herself in or is taken into custody. A Wilson County Sheriffs investigator told KSAT 12 Wednesday that two other suspects wanted in connection to the case, Nicole Sullivan and Pamela Johnson, were working on arrangements to turn themselves in. The donkey was taken to a ranch in Wilson County but the foal did not survive the birth, the investigator said. A Floresville ISD spokesperson and Berlanga did not respond to requests for comment Wednesday morning.

UHS girls take on Floresville in district soccer tomorrow
At Floresville tomorrow night, the Uvalde Lobos will play their final road soccer match of the regular season as they face battle the Floresville Jaguars. Kick-off time for the varsity match is scheduled for 6:30 p.m., while the junior varsity teams are set to play at 5 p.m.Last month, the Lobos scored in the last four minutes of the match to record a thrilling 4-3 win over the Jaguars in action at the Uvalde High School soccer field. The Uvalde Coyotes will play their final home basketball game of the season Tuesday night when they host the Floresville Tigers. Tip-off time for the District 28-5A varsity game is scheduled for 6:30 p.m. in Harvey Kinchlow Gym. Preceding the varsity game will be a junior varsity game at 5 p.m., while the freshman teams will do battle beginning at 5 p.m. in Oscar Cruz Gym. In the first district varsity matchup between Uvalde and Floresville, the Tigers posted a 74-50 victory over the Coyotes in action at Floresville. 'Dangerous' man accused of assaulting victim while on the run, Floresville police say
SAN ANTONIO - Floresville police are searching for a man accused of assaulting a previous victim while he's been on the run for months. Sergio Lara, 49, is wanted for assault family violence and a probation warrant, according to Det. George Ortiz of the Floresville Police Department. Sheriff confirms death at Wilson County Jail after man's bizarre arrest at Walmart

The man, whose name has not been publicly released, was apprehended by Floresville police after someone called 911 to report that the man was attempting to enter a ladies dressing room at a Walmart, Tackitt said. When police arrived, the man was lying next to a checkout counter and screaming, Tackitt said. Tackitt said the man was supposed to be taken to a hospital for a medical evaluation but died before he could be taken. KSAT reached out to the Floresville police department for comment but has not heard back.
