SeaWorld Seven Seas will be open every Friday, Saturday and Sunday from April 2 through May 30, plus Memorial Day. SAN ANTONIO – SeaWorld San Antonio is bringing back its “Seven Seas” food festival that will take place over several weekends this spring. During the event, participants receive a Seven Seas Food Festival Tasting Lanyard and will get to try a variety of samples of food derived from the Caribbean, Italy, Brazil, Asia and elsewhere. Samples include food like Korean Kimchi fries, German apple strudel with frozen vanilla cream, Caribbean jerk chicken or Brazilian roast beef sandwich (Bauru). Aquatica San Antonio opening to guests just in time for spring break
SAN ANTONIO – Aquatica San Antonio at SeaWorld will reopen just in time for spring break. Waterpark officials said it will be open from 11 a.m.-6 p.m. starting Saturday through Sunday, March 14. After spring break it will be open on weekends through June 4, then it will be open daily. “Starting this Spring Break, we are thrilled to welcome guests back to Aquatica and provide families a much-needed opportunity to get outdoors and enjoy quality time together, while doing so safely,” Byron Surrett, park president of SeaWorld and Aquatica, said in a news release. SeaWorld, Aquatica hiring for hundreds of positions in San Antonio
SAN ANTONIO – SeaWorld in San Antonio is hiring for hundreds of positions at the marine life park and Aquatica waterpark. The parks are looking to fill more than 500 part-time and seasonal positions including park operations, merchandise, food service, lifeguards and maintenance. Some of the positions come with a $200 signing bonus, SeaWorld officials said. All employees get free admission to both parks, free and discount tickets for friends and family and other perks. SeaWorld lawyers question SAWS about using parking lot as water distribution site
SAN ANTONIO – Lawyers for SeaWorld apparently had some concerns about the San Antonio Water System wanting to use its parking lot as a water distribution site for residents in desperate need of water. According to SAWS president and CEO Robert Puente, the lawyers had a lot of questions. The SeaWorld site was among seven water distribution sites at SAWS pump stations where the utility is giving away free water for customers who have no water or low water pressure due to the winter storm. The sites will be open until the water system is back to normal operating conditions. SAN ANTONIO – We’re sure you’ve seen plenty of sonogram pictures before, but have you ever seen one of a beluga whale? New footage released by SeaWorld San Antonio shows one of the park’s beluga whales, Luna, and her baby to be. According to park officials, the staff at SeaWorld San Antonio conduct husbandry training with animals as part of conservation efforts. “Through this specialized training, beluga whales are taught to rest comfortably and hold still so they can be examined by our veterinarians,” SeaWorld San Antonio said in a statement. The gestational period for beluga whales is between 14 and 15 months.
Meet Rudolph, Santa Claus at SeaWorld San Antonio’s annual Christmas celebration
Get ready for some ho-ho-ho-liday fun at SeaWorld San Antonio. The park’s annual Christmas celebration is returning on select dates starting Nov. 20 and ending Jan. 3Visitors will have the chance to meet Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer and Santa Claus. The video shows firefighters utilizing a high-extension ladder to reach the riders and get them down safely. San Antonio Zoo, SeaWorld featured in new Helen Mirren-narrated documentary ‘Escape From Extinction’
SAN ANTONIO – The San Antonio Zoo and SeaWorld are featured in a new conservation documentary called “Escape From Extinction” which is narrated by Academy Award Winner Helen Mirren. American Humane’s inaugural feature-length documentary shows the efforts being taken by accredited zoos and aquariums to preserve millions of species threatened with mass extinction, according to San Antonio Zoo officials. “San Antonio is home to two zoological institutions that are significantly contributing to the conservation of wildlife,” said SeaWorld San Antonio spokesperson Chuck Cureau. SAN ANTONIO – SeaWorld San Antonio has laid off 242 employees, according to documents the theme park submitted to the Texas Workforce Commission. According to SeaWorld San Antonio Park President Byron Surrett, the COVID-19 pandemic took a toll on the theme park’s attendance and revenue. Laid-off workers can apply for future positions at any SeaWorld park. SeaWorld San Antonio offering free admission for military veterans, their families
SAN ANTONIO – Military veterans and their families can receive free admission to SeaWorld San Antonio throughout the summer. SeaWorld announced that starting Wednesday, veterans and retirees can redeem free tickets for themselves and up to three guests through Nov. 11 via www.wavesofhonor.com. The offer is valid at SeaWorld San Antonio, as well as SeaWorld Orlando and Busch Gardens Tampa Bay. Upon reopening, the offer will be valid at SeaWorld San Diego and Busch Gardens Williamsburg. Waves of Honor already offers active duty military free admission for members and three guests, SeaWorld stated in a news release.

SAN ANTONIO – SeaWorld San Antonio will reopen June 19 with limited capacity and new safety measures intended to improve safety for guests. The reopening of the park will include enhanced health and safety protocols for cleaning and sanitizing, physical distancing, face-covering requirements and temperature screening, according to a press release. SeaWorld CEO resigns five months into job, cites board
ORLANDO, Fla. – SeaWorld Entertainment's chief executive has resigned only five months into his job, becoming the third leader of the theme park company to depart in just over two years, according to a company filing released Monday. The spread of the novel coronavirus has paralyzed the theme park industry. Like most other theme park companies operating in the U.S., SeaWorld's 12 theme parks have been closed since mid-March. The company said he would stay in the job at least until the theme parks reopen. “The board will review the role once the company reopens its theme parks," the SEC filing said.

SeaWorld is temporarily furloughing over 90% of its employees
SeaWorld is temporarily furloughing over 90% of its employees as of April 1 because of the coronavirus pandemic. It is unknown how long the employees will be laid off, according to SeaWorld. The company, which operates 12 theme parks around the United States, announced on March 13 it was closing down all its locations. Disney closed its eleven theme parks across North America, Europe and Asia in mid-March. Universal Orlando Resort announced it, too, would temporarily shut dow its theme parks starting at the close of business on March 15.
SeaWorld donates toilet paper to medical trainees at Ft. Sam Houston
SAN ANTONIO – SeaWorld San Antonio donated its supply of toilet paper Saturday to Navy medical trainees stationed at Ft. Sam Houston. Members of the Navy First Class Petty Officers Association, a non-federal, non-profit group that advocates on behalf of enlisted sailors, reached out to SeaWorld officials and requested the donation for 1,000 Navy medical trainees in need of supplies. The military students are restricted to the base due to the new coronavirus pandemic and were experiencing a shortage. SeaWorld San Antonio donated 45 cases, about 500 jumbo-sized rolls, of toilet paper. All SeaWorld theme parks temporarily closed on March 16 and will stay closed at least through the end of the month.
