Wellpath settles religious discrimination case over denying employment to nurse who asked to wear skirt to work at San Antonio detention facility
Under the settlement, Wellpath must pay back pay and compensatory damages of $75,000 to the job candidate in addition to conducting antidiscrimination training for certain human resources employees and managers, and distributing a notice informing employees of their rights.
San Antonio police searching for woman in NW Side shooting
SAN ANTONIO โ San Antonio police are searching for a woman who allegedly shot a man at a Northwest Side apartment complex. Officers were called to the Trio Apartments, located in the 1200 block of Babcock Road, a little after 12:30 a.m. Monday. Police say he had been involved in an argument with a woman just before the shooting happened. They say that woman was gone by the time officers arrived. Police searched the area using the Eagle helicopter and K-9 units, but did not find her.

Woman killed after fire sweeps through East side home
SAN ANTONIO โ A 68-year-old woman was killed early Wednesday when fire swept through her East Side home. San Antonio firefighters say there were flames shooting from the home in the 700 block of Runnels Avenue when they arrived around 2 a.m. They had to beat back the fire in order to reach the woman who was trapped inside. Relatives say the womanโs son told them he was outside the home when he heard a popping noise, then noticed the flames. (KSAT)He told them he also tried to reach her, but was unable to do so.
Woman dies from injuries after being struck by train in Schertz, police say
SCHERTZ, Texas โ Update:A woman that was struck by a train in Schertz on Saturday has died from her injuries, according to Schertz police. Carolyn McCall, 26, was taken to the Brooke Army Medical Center after police said she was struck by the train. She succumbed to her injuries shortly after she was hospitalized, according to officials. Caught on camera: Woman struggles with suspect allegedly trying to steal her dog
WINDCREST โ A Windcrest community is hoping a man caught on camera allegedly trying to steal a residentโs dog is brought to justice soon. The victim, a 68-year-old woman, was there when the attempted theft happened Monday afternoon at her home near Parkcrest and Moorside. โShe hears somebody approaching and speaking to the dog saying, โCome here girl! Come here girl!โ So, she turns around and sees this man trying to steal her dog,โ Presti said. Presti said this not the only complaint of a person trying to steal from pet owners.
Deputies find woman, 52, dead in her home, BCSO says
SAN ANTONIO โ The Bexar County Sheriffโs office found a 52-year-old woman dead in her home on Saturday, just days after she was last seen. On Saturday, the sheriffโs office filed a missing personโs report for a 52-year-old woman after one of her co-workers said the woman had not reported to work since Wednesday morning. Due to โdetails given by co-workers and inclement weather,โ the BCSO missing persons unit began to work to find the woman. The sheriffโs office said deputies planned to make a forced entry into the womanโs home on Saturday after they had โno luckโ in locating her. Ultimately, deputies decided to enter the house โin the case that the missing person was injured or in need of emergency help,โ the sheriffโs office said in a statement to KSAT.
Woman in critical condition after being hit by vehicle on Southeast Side, police say
SAN ANTONIO โ A 32-year-old woman is in critical condition after she was hit by a vehicle while crossing a Southeast Side highway late Wednesday night, the San Antonio Police Department said. The crash happened around 11 p.m. in the 10400 block of Highway 181 South, not far from Corpus Christi Highway and Interstate 37. According to police, the woman was struck by the vehicle while walking across Highway 181 from a convenience store to a mobile home park. Police said the driver of the vehicle was traveling north on Highway 181 and did not see the woman until it was too late. The driver of the vehicle did try to swerve to avoid hitting her, but the woman was clipped, police said.
Man, 36, killed after crashing vehicle into ditch near UTSA Boulevard, police say
SAN ANTONIO โ A 36-year-old man was killed after he went across all lanes of an access road off of I-10 and crashed into a ditch, according to San Antonio police. The crash happened Friday night in the 13400 block of I-10, near Casa Bella and UTSA Boulevard. Police said the man exited I-10, went across all lanes of the access road, and crashed into a grass drainage ditch.
