When it came to a stop near Hausman Road, police say they found two men in their mid-20s dead inside the vehicle. “At this point, speed was the underlying factor and a huge contributor to this crash,” said Officer Cory Schuler, a public information officer for SAPD. As of mid-morning, the Bexar County Medical Examiner’s office was still working to obtain a positive identification of the two men.

The crash happened shortly after 2 a.m. Wednesday on Interstate 10 near Hausman Road. Police say the car had been heading east on Hausman when it reached a dead end at Interstate 10 and should have turned onto the access road. Instead, they say, the car continued heading straight, hit a barrier then launched onto the main lanes of the highway. The car then hit the median, killing the two men inside the car.

The crash occurred around 8:45 p.m. in the 8600 block of Interstate 10 East. According to police, the driver of the 18-wheeler was traveling westbound when he swerved to avoid a disabled black sport utility vehicle that was left abandoned on the shoulder of I-10 over FM 1516. The driver was not wearing his seatbelt and was thrown out of the driver’s door on impact, police said.

According to the Express-News, the 18-wheeler was carrying thousands of bees with swarms released after the accident. Southbound Interstate 10 at the Fine Silver turn near downtown will be closed for several hours, according to the Texas Department of Transportation. As of 1 p.m., TxDOT cameras showed authorities working to clear and clean the roadways. There are no reports of injuries at this time.

She was last seen 15 minutes earlier at 4th Quarter Sports Bar, located at 8779 Wurzbach Road. Mitchelle was later pronounced dead at University Hospital.

Downed light pole on NW side presents hazard for morning drivers
SAN ANTONIO A light pole that was designed to illuminate the road instead presented a challenge to drivers in the dark early Friday morning on the citys Northwest side. Another driver told KSAT12 he was left with three flat tires after running over the unexpected road hazard. Both drivers said they didnt see the light pole until it was too late. San Antonio police were not able to say what caused the light pole to fall onto the road. They said it was not related to another crash that happened around the same time nearby at Interstate 10 and Medical Drive.

BEAUMONT, Texas - A portion of Interstate 10 in southeast Texas that was closed due to flooding from Tropical Storm Imelda has reopened. KFDM-TV reports that officials with the Texas' Department of Public Safety and Department of Transportation said the interstate between Winnie and Beaumont reopened as of noon Sunday. The interstate though is still closed at the San Jacinto Bridge in Harris County after loose barges struck the support columns near the water. The Texas Department of Transportation said Sunday that the barges had been dislodged and officials are inspecting the bridge for damage. This weekend floodwaters began to recede to reveal the exhausting cleanup effort that lies ahead after Imelda slowly churned across the region, damaging hundreds of homes and causing five deaths.
Fifth death linked to storm that walloped Houston area
Authorities raised the storm's death toll to five, saying it is believed to have killed a 52-year-old Florida man who was found dead Thursday in his stranded pickup truck along Interstate 10 near Beaumont, which is near Texas' border with Louisiana. Jefferson County spokeswoman Allison Getz said that although floodwaters seeped into Mark Dukaj's truck, investigators don't believe he drowned, though they do believe his death is storm-related. An autopsy will determine the cause.

20 killed, 26 wounded when gunman attacks Texas shoppers
A young gunman opened fire in an El Paso, Texas, shopping area packed with as many as 3,000 people during the busy back-to-school season Saturday, leaving 20 dead and more than two dozen injured. El Paso police didn't release his name at a news conference but confirmed the gunman is from Allen, near Dallas. Before the wall project started, El Paso had been rated one of the three safest major U.S. cities going back to 1997. Heidi Beirich, director of the Southern Poverty Law Center's Intelligence Project, said the El Paso shooting suspect wasn't on her group's radar before the shooting. The shooting is the 21st mass killing in the United States in 2019, and the fifth public mass shooting.

Traffic light collapses on NW Side
Crews worked throughout the day Thursday to repair a traffic light that fell on the street on the city's Northwest Side. The light collapsed on the access road of Interstate 10 and UTSA Boulevard just before noon. TxDOT crews are trying figure out how it all happened, but officials said the light just fell down and wasn't knocked over by a vehicle.
